While sharpening is easy to apply, it’s even easier to apply far too much of it. Method 2: Open the Filters menu, select the Enhance submenu, and click Sharpen (Unsharp Mask). Method 1: Select the Sharpen tool from the toolbox and hand-paint the areas to be sharpened. You can sharpen exclusively in selected areas using a brush-based tool, or you can sharpen the entire image at once with a filter.

There are two primary ways to sharpen an image in GIMP, and they’re both easy to use.

GIMP only has a couple of sharpening options, but it’s important to use them properly to get perfect tack-sharp images that don’t look overprocessed. #GIMP SHARPEN IMAGE SOFTWARE#
Is there a way for you to use GIMP to alter wihout losing the large scale of original image?Ī) find a way to stack the other 30sec avi's and how do I do this in autostakkert?ī) sharpening in another software programming?Ĭ) other: do something I don't know yet what to do I tried sharpening in GIMP and I just get noise on the moon with no sharpening.Īlso i think GIMP automatically conpresses my image scale/resolution and any image i alter with curves or sharpening is reduced in size dramatically from the original. I could probably crop it around the square and have a sharpened lunar image this way but I'm butchering the huge, beautiful resolution image. I can sharpen a small square of the entire lunar image. I tried switching wavelets from Gaussian to default and it helped a bit, but still not making improvements to the images. Artifacts easily appear despite more frames, or more or less align points. But with the max ROI with the C11, registax for some reason really hates any alterations with wavelets or Histogram, ect. Second question is that while trying to fix the sharpness, I use GIMP and registax, but usually registax for majority of sharpening. (Yes collimation could have been a bit off but the final images were only slightly less sharp than my frac and should be able to fix post processing- I used focus help option in firecapture to assist with the sct) Which leads me to my next question. This isn't the end of the world, because after stacking 20% of 1025 frames I get a really good lunar image. Also try and select a currently stacked image but it is saved as tiff and doesn't show up. I took multiple 30 sec vids of the moon with the same settings, but used "last stack as a reference" option but I don't think it doing anything. In retrospect I probably should have ran longer duration single avi's. I completed a good imaging run with a C11 and my ASI224MC, and have ran into some roadblocks with the processing.Īs the title suggests, I am having problems stacking multiple avi's together. Hi all, i am new to imaging and have watched several videos on youtube on autostakkert, GIMP and registax with good results for my 4 inch refractor. Edit: this may be better off in the solar system imaging and processing forum if admin wants to move.
